Just a reminder: rest in the plan of God with a thankful heart

Each month I ask God to put something on my heart to write and this month I got a resounding word: Thankfulness.

In my personal journey this month has been filled with a lot of challenges. I know we all experience moments of defeat and it’s so easy to get caught in the trap of negative thinking, but you know what has been getting me through? A thankful heart.

Let’s look at Paul! He is such an incredible example of someone who gives thanks to God no matter what. The man was in chains, imprisoned and fighting for his life because of his faith. That’s enough to get someone down, right? Wrong!

Through it all he chose thankfulness. He chose to focus on the blessing, he chose to trust the bigger picture — one far beyond what he was battling in that moment. He chose to trust through the hard times and rest in the plan God had for him all along. God used Paul in such an incredible way all because he was willing and thankful!

I don’t know what you are facing right now, but I do know that we are all extremely blessed. I want you to pause right now and write down 3 things you are thankful for. I want to encourage you to continue to do that each day and watch how God changes your heart and your perspective. It really is such a beautiful thing to experience, especially in the midst of heartache. Allow Him to use you and your thankful heart for His glory!

1 Thessalonians 5:18 - Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
