Keep going, God’s doing more than you realise.
A little while ago, some friends and I started a ‘read the bible in a year’ plan, which is going great! But a month on, as I sift through the pages of Leviticus reading the Old Testament laws and rituals, I can’t help but think “why am I even reading this, shouldn’t I just read an encouraging passage from Ephesians and get on with my day really encouraged?”
Then it dawned on me. Right now, Leviticus doesn’t make much sense, nor is it the most entertaining piece of scripture. But after reading it, my knowledge will be richer, deeper, stronger, and wider than before. This will enable me to see future passages in a new light, with new insight, and with a better grasp of the overall picture of God’s story of love.
Sometimes life can be just like this, we go through monotonous seasons and seemingly insignificant seasons, disregarding their value - and how they can profoundly impact our tomorrow.
I encourage you - if you are going through a season in which you struggle to see the value in, take heart! God hasn’t brought you here for no reason, He won’t leave you where you are, and He has a beautiful plan and purpose for everything you do.
I love what Jesus says to Peter about Jesus choosing to serve him and wash his feet ... “You don’t realise now what I am doing, but later you will understand” (John 13:7 NIV).
For me this is the best possible encouragement! We don’t know, but He does!
If you’re in one of these seasons, pray. Ask God for the strength to get through, and also the foresight to see how this season will be of benefit to you in the days to come.
Prayer for today: Dear God, I pray you give me the strength to get through this season and also the foresight to see how this season will be of benefit to me in the future. Amen
