Would you be an encourager?

Recently, I have been reading through the book of proverbs and have been so challenged in the way I live my life for Christ.

Words of affirmation is one of my main love languages and as I read more in depth about the wisdom Solomon was writing about, I come across this verse: Proverbs 18:21 - The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.

I don’t know about you but this verse was extremely confronting for me to read. What a powerful analogy he used to emphasise the outcome of how we speak. It honestly reigns truth, I’m sure each one of you can think of a time where you have been slandered by someone and how low it made you feel afterward but have you considered how many times you do it to others without even being aware of it? Encouragement is a spiritual gift and I believe it’s something we should all be striving to portray within our character.

This week, I challenge you friend, to encourage someone everyday. It could be your family, friends or even a stranger. Let’s be a tribe of people that display Christ’s love through our words!

Prayer for today: Father God, Thank-you so much for your constant love and grace. I am sorry for using my words for death. I pray you will allow me to see others the way you see them, I pray you prompt me to be an encourager, I pray you give me the right words to bring life to others. Amen.
