Anxiety is not in His name
Our God has a powerful name, a name that is above all other names, a name that conquers, champions and empowers. A name that uplifts, encourages and shifts atmospheres.
Anxiety however is not in His name and we do not have to live our lives being controlled by it. I understand how easy it can be to get caught up in our weekly tasks and the things that stress us daily that we forget who God is, we forget to talk to Him and spend time with Him. This allows anxiety to creep in and we begin to let it take control over our lives.
Psalm 46:10 in the passion reads
‘Surrender your anxiety!
Be silent and stop your striving and you will see that I am God.
I am the God above all the nations, and I will be exalted throughout the whole earth’.
I don’t know about you but reading this has changed my life. I realized that often my anxiety comes from striving, from trying to be perfect in all that I do. So much so that I forget who God is and it isn’t until I take a moment to be still and I surrender my anxiety reflecting on who God is that things begin to change.
I want to encourage you to spend more time being still in God’s presence, surrender your anxiety and reflect on who God is. Your anxiety will cease as God’s overwhelming peace comes upon you.
Questions for today:
1. Do I feel anxious on a regular basis?
2. Why am I anxious? Is my trust in God or in my own abilities?
3. Can I spend more time talking and listening to God?
